zelda fans I need your help I have a stupid question it’s about this one specific track in the music

so I’m a newborn Zelda fan and totk was my first game. I’ve been slowly learning the lore but aside from the things I need to understand certain references during totk I know little if not none

and the yiga clan + master kohga have become some of my absolute favorite characters. I’ve got utter goddamn brain rot over them. so their scenes have been very memorable to me right.

but this one damn scene has been bothering me for hours now.

this FUCKING track. the part in between the depths music at the beginning and the actual kohga boss theme towards the end? that epic orchestral theme during his dialogue? what the FUCK is the deal with that??

is it a motif from another track that I just haven’t found or detected while listening to it myself??? is it another track backwards? is it a motif of a separate character? is it referencing botw or even another game before that? or did they, for some batshit reason, give master kohga a totally unique, Standalone Theme, specifically tailored to play during the moment he pledged allegiance to satan and tells you he’s gonna kick your ass???

please I need an answer. even if it’s just someone telling me I’m losing my mind because clearly it’s a leitmotif from a different theme. I’m obsessed with the music in this game and it’s been bothering me for like 3 hours. please free me from this prison

The only reason I CANNOT comprehend the fact they TOTALLY could have just made a whole new theme song for this moment specifically is because it’s MASTER KOHGA. it is the SMALLEST MOMENT THAT A PLAYER CAN SKIP OVER IF THEY SPEED THRU THE DIALOGUE. if that portion of music really is totally unique and not just a reworked version of a separate track. WHY?

thank you for your responses this was driving me up a wall. glad i'm not TOTALLY insane bcuz it seems like no one else knows either LDFGJDKH

It seems like all the answers I’m getting are a mix of totally different things so at least I don’t feel like I’m crazy for not recognizing it. so the only way I’m going to satisfy myself is if I come up with a batshit answer, which is:

those 4 notes sound like kohga’s laugh. the end

BEST FRIENDS WEAR EACH OTHER ON THEIR FEET.

HAH! When I was working on character/prop design on Arthur, the script just said that Buster showed up in his pajamas. But since it struck me that Arthur’s pajama design included bunny slippers… and his best friend was a bunny, it seemed fitting to include Aardvark slippers on Buster’s pajama design.

Apparently the storyboard artist was amused and he featured the slippers in a closeup! I was so proud!

People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

writers: and this scene is a part of a side mission where master kohga says he’s gonna kick link’s ass then go find ganondorf. remember; it’s just a small dialogue scene before the final kohga fight. this part can literally be sped thru if players skip the dialogue. just make it a remixed version of his normal theme or something don’t push yourself

composers: got it

composers making one of the most amazing battle intros in the entire goddamn game:
